Planning Events for Sustainability and Resiliency in 2021
As Michigan optimistically transitions to live events later this year, planners of large and small events still have the opportunity to integrate sustainability into their planning and execution, and may find it beneficial for resiliency planning in what is sure to be a unique and challenging season.
Michigan Sustainable Business Forum will host a discussion for event planners, vendors, sustainability professionals and other stakeholders exploring the potential role of sustainability and resiliency procedures. A panel of experts will discuss their responses to the pandemic, sustainability goals, event execution and best practice systems. The program will also feature a case study on a large Michigan zero-waste festival. A question and answer session and optional small group networking will follow.
Panelists include:
- Mike Szukhent, President/CEO, Michigan Festival and Events Association
- Jessica Loding, CMP, Director of Events and Strategic Partnerships at Schupan
- Kim Collins, Director of Operations at Detroit Jazz Festival Foundation
- Cesar Gonzalez, Festival Chair of the Grand Rapids Hispanic Festival
Michigan Sustainable Business Forum is an online extension of West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum, a place for learning and collaboration on key sustainability concerns and the promotion of business practices that advanced climate leadership, social justice, community resiliency and the creation of a circular economy.
